What is the RSA Course?

The Responsible Service of Alcohol Course (SITHFAB009A) is a nationally accredited unit of competency and is included in the industry course – Certificate II in Hospitality under the requirements of the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).

On completion of this RSA course you will be issued a Nationally Accredited Certificate of Attainment. With this RSA Certificate you will be able to apply for positions in licensed bars, hotels, pubs and clubs, retail liquor outlets and licensed function and event centres.

The RSA course will teach you to:

  • Identify customers to whom service should be refused.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic beverages responsibly.
  • Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits.
  • Assist alcohol affected customers

What is the difference between the National and the Queensland OLGR Approved online RSA course?

Both RSA certificates are for the SITHFAB009A unit of competency (Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol). However, the Queensland OLGR Approved Course has training requirements specifically relating to Queensland legislation and policies. The National RSA course uses legislation and policies which are specifically relating to Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory.

How long does my RSA certificate last for?

3 years.

What if I have an RSA certificate for a different State?

Not a problem. If you have a current RSA certificate for another state and you are want to work in Queensland, you will only need to enrol in our RSA Bridging Course for ONLY $35.

Just follow these easy 3 steps:

Step One

Provide AOT with a certified copy of your current Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency SITHFAB009A Provide responsible service of alcohol.

A certified copy of your SITHFAB009A Provide responsible service of alcohol Statement of Attainment must be scanned and sent via email to rsacertificate@aot.edu.au; or mailed to: PO Box 7575, Cairns QLD 4870.

Step Three

Once AOT has received a certified copy of your Statement of Attainment – SITHFAB009A Provide responsible service of alcohol, you will then be given immediate access to your Queensland (OLGR) approved RSA certificate and at the same time improve your chances of gaining a job in hospitality.
